The Canadian Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (CAML) is offering the following three awards:

 

The Cheryl Martin First-time Presenter Award: CAML will now be offering its First-time Presenter Award in honour and memory of music librarian and former CAML President Cheryl Martin. This award is intended to provide an opportunity to present a paper at CAML’s 2017 conference to someone who has never presented at CAML before. Up to $1000 will be received by the winner upon submission of receipts for travel and accommodation expenses following the conference. Registration and banquet fees will be covered by CAML and will not be deducted from the award amount. Applicants must be members in good standing and should include a cover letter of no more than one page alongside their paper proposal. Letters should indicate the applicant is requesting consideration for the Cheryl Martin First-time Presenter Award and should clearly articulate the applicant’s interest in music librarianship. The recipient of the award will submit the conference paper for publication in a forthcoming issue of CAML Review. Application letters and paper proposals need to be received by the Program Committee Chair, Stacy Allison-Cassin , by December 16th, 2016. All applicants are asked to refrain from registering for the conference until after the results are announced.

First-time Attendee Award: CAML is offering an award covering conference registration and banquet fees for a first-time attendee. Applicants must be library and/or archival studies students or individuals considering a career in music librarianship. Applicants must be members in good standing and should include an application letter as well as a current CV. Letters should indicate the applicant is requesting consideration for a First-time Attendee Award and should clearly articulate the applicant’s interest in a career in music librarianship. Application letters need to be received by the Program Committee Chair, Stacy Allison-Cassin , by December 16th, 2016. All applicants are asked to refrain from registering for the Conference until after the results are announced.

CAML Research Award: CAML is offering a new award to support the research endeavours of its members. This year, the award of up to $1000 will be given to a music librarian employed in a Canadian institution. Applicants must be members in good standing and should send an application letter including a budget proposal, a current CV, and a letter of support preferably from a supervisor, faculty member or dean at the applicant’s institution. Applications and support letters should clearly articulate the benefits of the award towards the applicant’s research. The winner shall agree to write an article on their research project for a forthcoming issue of the CAML Review. Application packages need to be received by the Program Committee Chair, Stacy Allison-Cassin , by December 16th, 2016.
